Phonics & Reading Schemes

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils follow the Read Write Inc phonics programme to teach them to read. When children have completed the programme and become confident readers, they move onto Oxford Reading Tree book bands. These give a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to develop children’s reading range.

All children are encouraged to visit the library weekly and choose their own book to take home and share.
