THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE OF KNOWLESWOOD

attendance

ATTENDANCE

Knowleswood Primary School believes that good attendance is vital to a good education. Attendance is a high priority for school staff, governors, parents and pupils. We challenge continual poor attendance and this is having a positive impact on the attendance of our pupils. Setting good attendance patterns from an early age will help later on in life. Knowleswood Primary will ring or text parents if we have not been informed why a child is absent. We monitor every child's attendance. Our aim is for our whole school attendance to be above 96.4% this school year.

Our attendance officer, Mrs Daff monitors our registers, investiagtes absence, carries out home visits and works with the Educational Social Worker to ensure that all children come to school every day.

Mrs Daff arranges attendance rewards which are shared in Learning Champions assembly and at the end of each term.

REWARDS

Every half term a certificate is given to every child whose attendance is above 98% and they have a 'cinema afternoon.' At the end of every term we provide an 'attendance treat' for every child whose attendance is above 98% and the House Group Winners.

At Christmas we have an Assault Bouncy Castle.

At Easter the treat is weather dependent.

In July we have a Bungee Trampoline.

Class attendance is monitored every week and a golden and silver welly, is awarded to the class with the best attendance. They receive the reward of an additional playtime or extra golden time. These are presented in Learning Champions assemblies on Fridays.
